One day our daughter will be old enough to understand,
The meaning of these initials.
Gratitude to you,
For giving her to me,
Despite the previous denial I was in at first.
Thank you for the patience,
Subsequent tolerance and strength of raising her.
I may never know the capacity and content of the tears you shed,
The many secrets in your chest that you have to keep to make her happy.
Certainly not will I replace nor compare motherhood to fatherhood,
For your heart and soul both you'd sacrifice to see her through.
Like my departed mother did,
Just to see me get the best in life.
Her powerful connection to the Holy spirit directed her,
She set me on a path on day four whence she departed.
I may never get the chance to thank her like a son, thus
My poetic self forever writes,
Inside my heart,
Imprints of concealed appreciation in mind,
No day goes by without her protection over me,
I feel it for I have seen it before,
In the lives of my sisters.
They love their children beyond themselves,
Forsook earthly pleasures,to protect and provide for their babies.
I thank them for being available for my special sleeping angelic nephew.
For teaching and caring for my ever growing nieces and nephews,
No work is easy, parenthood is no float of a simple cloud.
I know what mother is,
I have seen and live to observe her daily,
I give abundant thanks to God for this special creation he gave unto us,
As grandmother,aunts,sisters best yet,
You MOTHER.
